Who are the Parkour/Freerun coaches?
Ninja, Zoo, Base have been part of mk parkour since its started out and have done parkour for 3 years although they had been doing the same kind of thing all there lives. They have done many other sports like extreme bmx trails skateboarding and even stunt riding on a unicycle gym joined the team later on but has been a big apart in all the setting up the team have done lots of event photo shoots to charity event ninja is a fully qualified personal trainer so he knows a lot bout the human body and how to make it stronger What they bring into the Parkour/Freerun classes are an abundance of unrivalled first hand experiences, taken from actually living and breathing parkour.
What is to be expected? A typical two hour class will consist of a warm up and from there, the emphasis will be on learning techniques that translate directly to the street. Expect lots of vaulting, precision work, rolling, foot placement drills, stealth (importance of silence), balance drills, space awareness games etc. Each session will focus on a maximum of two or three particular movements to drill solidly and near the end of the class before warming down, an obstacle course will be set up enabling everyone to put the techs they've learned, into practise. Classes will be tailored to suit everyone from absolute beginner to fully experienced. There will also be a grading system set up so you can see what level you are at with your parkour certificates and bands will be given for each grading
Do I have to do a grading? No, you don't have to be graded you can just come and go as you please, but grading is good indication so you no your getting better. Do I need to be fit to take part? Not at all. Although the classes are geared towards hard training, those who aren't already in shape will be allowed to scale it down and train at their own pace. Are there age restrictions in place? We cater for everyone over the age of 14 years old at our regular Parkour/Freerun classes (venue policy).
Do I need to be experienced to take part? Again, no. tailored to suit all levels from beginner to advanced.
What kind of environment is it set in? The main training area is set in a spacious brick room with hard wooden flooring. Wall are very grippy and strong Equipment consists of vault horses, parallel bars, rings, crash mats balance bars spring boards and padded judo type mats.
What do I need to wear? A t-shirt, comfortable track bottoms and trainers. You can buy mkpk t-shirts from our shop which are great for doing parkour. If you are taking a gradin you will need to buy a top from us this can be ordered in the classes (not on the net).
What should I bring with me? Its advised to bring your own water to stay hydrated and a towel to wipe away the sweat and tears. :p Refreshments/snacks can be bought from the vending machines in the centres if desired.
Do I need to book up in advance? No. Simply turn up to train and pay on the night. Ideally we'd like to cap the classes so that maximum numbers are no more than 90 people, but if we ever get more at any one time, we will make room for the extras. In most cases, there will be extra team members at hand to help out if necessary. Outdoor classes need to be booked in advance and are run on a strict first come first served basis. These are capped at 10 people per session.
What restrictions are in place? The regular classes are open to anyone regardless of sex, race, social background etc. The only thing we insist on is that anyone attending, come along with a positive mind, are prepared to train hard and have some fun too.
Where can I leave my valuables? Whilst there are changing rooms there, we advise that all bags containing valuables are brought into the class with you.
